Deer Creek of the Mazatzals

Deer Creek starts from the highest parts of the Mazatzal mountains and tumbles down through lush valleys to the flatlands around Tonto Creek. Several trails play along the tributaries of the creek and, by combining them with a few interesting options, I made an interesting thirty mile loop. Plus there was a bear, the first such encounter in Arizona, so that’s neat.
